Catch the splash
15 minute Craft planner
This craft is based on a marshmallow shooter.
You will need:
‘Splash’ textbox (see Printables)
Metallic blue ribbon
Colouring pencils and/or felt-tips
How to prepare:
Print and cut out sufficient templates for one per child. Make a sample ‘catch the splash’ so the children know what they are making.
How to make:
1. Tie a knot at the end of your balloon and cut the end off. You need to keep the end with a knot in it.
2. Ask an adult to cut off the base of a plastic cup. If your cup is made from thin plastic you may need to use two cups, inserting one inside the other. Stretch the balloon over the lip end of the cup.
3. Colour in and cut out the ‘splash’ textbox. Use sticky tape to stick it to the pom-pom. Cut an 80 cm length of metallic ribbon. Use sticky tape to attach one end to the inside of the cup and the other end to the pom-pom. Place the pom-pom inside the cup. To shoot the pom-pom out of the cup pull back on the knot then let go.
To catch the ‘splash’ shoot the pom-pom into the air then try and catch it in the cup. If you are right-handed hold the cup in your right hand and pull back on the balloon knot with your left hand as it will then be easier to catch the pom-pom. If you are left-handed hold the cup in your left hand.
