A folded cross

15 minute Craft planner

Beware of allergies – make sure it is safe for the children in your group to handle and taste the food used in this activity.

You will need:
‘A folded cross’ template (see Printables)
Two or three small Easter eggs per child
Tissue paper
Paperclips, enough for four per child
Scissors
Colouring pencils and/or felt-tips
Glue stick
Thin cardboard (optional)
Collage material such as sticky shapes and PVA glue (optional)

How to prepare:
Print and cut out sufficient templates for one per child. Make a sample ‘folded cross’ so the children know what they are making.

How to make:

1. Cut out and colour in your template. To make your cross stronger mount the template on some card. Use a glue stick to stick the template to the card then cut around the template.

2. Fold the flaps under the template to make a cross shape.

3. Fold the template into a box and secure the sides with four paperclips. Scrunch up a piece of tissue paper and put it in the box. Place two or three small eggs on top of the paper.

Practice opening the box into a cross shape to reveal what Jesus said to the High Priest.
