Felt and seed birds
15 minute Craft planner
Beware of allergies – make sure it is safe for the children in your group to handle and taste the food used in this activity.
You will need:
Bird templates (see Printables)
Bird seed (optional)
Felt squares of various colours
PVA glue, brushes and pots
Branches arranged in a large vase or bucket (optional)
How to prepare:
Print and cut out sufficient templates for one per child. For younger children you may want to cut out the felt shapes in advance. Make a sample ‘felt and seed bird’ so the children know what they are making.
How to make:
1. Cut out the template. Stick the templates to the felt squares using PVA glue. Cut around the templates.
2. Decorate the wing of your bird with bird seeds or sequins. Stick a sequin in the centre of the bird’s eye and add a few sequins to the bird’s tail.
3. Stick the body of the bird to a wooden peg.
4. Stick the wing on the body of the bird and the eye in position.
If you have some branches arrange them in a vase or bucket. Display your birds by clipping them to the branches.
