Fancy Sandals

15 minute Craft planner

You will need:
A4 sheets of thin cardboard
‘At once…’ textbox (see Printables)
Different coloured balls of wool or long white shoe laces
Crochet hooks (optional)
Hole punch
Colouring pencils and/or felt-tip pens
Glue sticks

How to prepare:
Print textboxes for one per child. Make a sample ‘fancy sandal’ so the children know what they are making.

How to make:

1. Place a piece of card on the floor. Take off a shoe and place your foot on the card. Carefully draw around your foot and cut out your foot-shape.

2. Colour in and cut out a textbox. Stick the textbox in the middle of your paper foot.  Use the hole punch to punch holes in your paper foot as shown in the picture.

3. To make the straps for your sandals choose one of the following options:
a. Cut three lengths of wool, each about 140 cm long. Plait the lengths together to make a long woollen plait.

b. Ask somebody who knows how to crochet to help you crochet a foundation chain of about 90 cm in length.

c. Decorate a long white shoe lace with felt-tip pens

d. Or simply use a single length of wool, of about 90 cm.

4. Thread your sandal strap through the holes in your foot-shape. If you are using a length of wool you could add some beads to your sandal as you thread the strap through the holes.

Hang up your sandal as a reminder of the day the Israelites left Egypt.
