Week 1 objectives: to discover that this verse comes from the book of Hebrews and that ‘Hebrews’ is a letter written to a group of Jewish people. People who study the Bible think that one of the most important words in the letter is the word ‘better’.
Week 2 objective: to discover that this verse tells us that Jesus never changes. He is the same today as he was in the ‘olden days’. He is the same today as he was yesterday.
Week 3 objective: to discover that Jesus' name means ‘Saviour’ - someone who saves or rescues people. Christians believe Jesus has saved them from a life without God, they believe he has saved them from the wrong things they have done.
Week 4 objective: to discover that the word Christ means ‘Anointed one’. To anoint someone means to rub special oil onto them. In Old Testament times the oil was a sign that the Holy Spirit would come upon them. Christians believe that Jesus is ‘The Christ’ because he is ‘The Anointed One’. Just as the Holy Spirit was with the kings and priests he is with Jesus.
